In Almaty, May 27-29, 2019, the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Children’s Surgery held a training seminar on the provision of neonatal care in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The seminar was attended by the main freelance neonatologists of the regions, deputy chief physicians for the neonatology service, heads and doctors of the intensive care unit, pathology of newborns and nursing premature babies of regional and city perinatal centers, children's hospitals, employees of the SCPCS and the Research Institute of Eye Diseases, heads and assistants of pediatric departments , residents. In total 95 doctors participated from all regions of the republic. The reports were presented for discussion: clinical protocols for bacterial sepsis and prevention of nosocomial infection, safety of neonatal ventilation (prevention, diagnosis, treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia), community-acquired pneumonia, questions of hospital-acquired infection, safety of neonatal non-invasive respiratory support, hypoxic-ischemic modern encephalopathy treatment methods, issues of retinopathy of premature infants, experience in reducing infections associated with the provision of medical care, preoperative strategy newborns with congenital defects, improving the quality of life of premature babies, etc.

At the seminar, lectures were delivered by Russian neonatologists, heads of intensive care units Alexander Li (St. Petersburg) and Andrei Averin (Chelyabinsk), Kazakhstan doctors of medical sciences, professors Tamara Chuvakova, Riza Boranbaeva, Dilara Kachurina, also Congress head of Neonatologists Bekturgan Karin etc.

Holding such educational seminars and the exchange of experience will improve the quality of medical care for newborns, strengthen preventive measures to prevent nosocomial infections and develop neonatal services in our republic.
