From November 25 to 29, 2019, a master class on “Diagnosis and treatment of cystic fibrosis in children” was held at the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Children’s  Surgery with the participation of a foreign specialist from Turkey, Professor Bulend Karadag, a member of the Turkish Pediatric & Thoracic association and association of respiratory diseases and cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease of the endocrine glands , it is manifested primarily by pathology of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system, in which the increased secretion viscosity of the endocrine glands which leads to a chronic inflammatory process in the lungs, pancreatic insufficiency, hepatobiliary pathology and an abnormally high sweat electrolytes.

Master class gave modern knowledge about the clinical symptoms and pathogenesis of the main clinical cystic fibrosis manifestations, prevention of complications, differential diagnosis with similar obstructive diseases of the lungs and lesions of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary system, the use of modern principles for the treatment of cystic fibrosis in children, general and functional as well as special research methods, it’s the principles of organizing proper medical follow-up for patients with cystic fibrosis.

Master class was attended by 27 specialists from various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including neonatologists, a pulmonology doctor, general practitioners and pediatricians. As part of the master class, 9 patients with various forms of cystic fibrosis were consulted.
