Expeditions of “red yurts” are organized in remote areas of the republic, where the first nurseries and “maternity houses” are created. Employees of the Institute obtained the first scientific and statistical data on the health status of women and children in Kazakhstan. One of the acute problems facing the institute in the thirties was the fight against "summer children's diarrhea" - the main cause of infant mortality. The leading role in the activities of the institute was occupied by the training of medical personnel for a rapidly expanding network of institutions for the protection of motherhood and childhood: regional instructors for the protection of motherhood and childhood, midwives, visiting nurses and nursery workers. Researchers at the institute of those years were studying the structure of child morbidity and mortality in Kazakhstan, developing issues of prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, pneumonia and upbringing of young children, studying the physical development of children.
During the war and post-war years and during the development of virgin lands of the Institute activity was entirely subordinated to the solution of urgent problems of maternal and child health, nominated by the harsh conditions of the time.
Scientific studies were devoted to the prevention and elimination of intestinal infections, pneumonia, rheumatism, rickets, the elimination of polio, tuberculosis meningitis, and reduction of stillbirth, maternal and infant mortality.

The obstetric-gynecological department was assigned to an independent Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Set up baby food divisions and social pediatrics.
