Republican Scientific-Practical Conference of Pediatric Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of Kazakhstan Held in Almaty

From September 25–28, a republican scientific-practical conference of pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators of Kazakhstan was held in Almaty in hybrid format.

More than 500 physicians took part in the two-day conference, including qualified specialists from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Lithuania, residents and professors from medical universities, leading specialists and heads of research institutes, pediatric and neonatal anesthesiologists and leading intensive care specialists, as well as pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators from various regions of the country.

At the opening of the conference, welcoming remarks were given by Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova, President of the Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators Professor Yergali Miyerbekov, Lyazzat Manzhuova, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Scientific and Innovative Activities at the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, as well as guests from Turkey, Russia, and other foreign countries.

"Protecting children's health has always been and remains a priority of state policy in any country. Infant and child mortality rates are key indicators, characterizing not only the development of the healthcare system but also the overall socioeconomic level of a country in the global ranking. Over the past three years, our country has seen a decline in infant mortality rates. This positive trend has continued over the first 7 months of this year. We have achieved these results thanks to systemic measures taken at both the central and local levels — and, of course, thanks to support at the highest level, that of the Head of State. The challenges of pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation are attracting increasing attention today. Interest in this field is driven by the particularities of the child's body — especially in early childhood, which is prone to developing emergency conditions — which often come down to questions of the social and legal protection of anesthesiologists-resuscitators working on the front lines in the fight to save young patients' lives. The decisions specialists make in unpredictable, nonstandard circumstances, and the way this service is organized, determine not only patients' lives but also the effectiveness of comprehensive measures to protect the health of the country's entire younger generation. This conference of pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators offers a unique opportunity to enrich professional experience and exchange ideas with leading specialists in pediatric and neonatal anesthesiology and intensive care. Dear colleagues, the Ministry of Healthcare is also carrying out extensive work today to strengthen the material and technical base and human resource capacity of the anesthesiology and resuscitation service, including for children. I am therefore confident that, through joint efforts, we can successfully address challenges in child healthcare and contribute to its preservation and strengthening. I wish all participants successful work, productive discussions, new initiatives, and good health! For its part, the Ministry of Healthcare is ready to accept all proposals developed at this conference and carry out the corresponding work to implement them," said Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova.

"The conference of pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators is a platform for exchanging experience, improving skills, and actively participating in discussions with leading specialists in pediatric and neonatal anesthesiology and intensive care. We have designed the conference program for pediatric anesthesiologists-resuscitators, neonatologists, transfusiologists, efferentologists, and healthcare organization specialists. Protecting children's health is one of the priority areas for the development of healthcare in Kazakhstan. That is why this conference is a significant event for the entire anesthesiology community of Kazakhstan, aimed at developing domestic medicine and strengthening international ties. This will allow all specialists involved in caring for our young patients in critical condition to come together and address common challenges," noted Professor Yergali Miyerbekov, President of the "Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators." According to him, this service today brings together more than 400 certified pediatric anesthesiologists-resuscitators and more than 100 anesthesiologists-resuscitators.

The conference addressed issues related to organizing and improving anesthesiology care and intensive treatment for children, examined the current state and pressing challenges of the country's pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation service, neuromonitoring and neuronavigation in pediatric anesthesiology, educational and legal aspects of the work of pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators, the role of nursing staff in resuscitation and anesthesiology care for children, and current issues in the work of anesthesiologists-resuscitators in pediatrics and neonatology, covering all major areas — cardiac anesthesiology, neuroanesthesiology, transplantology, and more.

The goal of the event was to bring together all anesthesiologists and resuscitators of the Republic of Kazakhstan and related specialties to improve specialized medical care for the population, discuss challenges in this field, and seek solutions.

At the conference of anesthesiologists and resuscitators of Kazakhstan, the best specialists in the field were recognized, and veteran anesthesiologists and resuscitators who have made long-standing contributions to the country's anesthesiology service were honored. More than 12 specialists were awarded the "Veteran Anesthesiologist-Resuscitator" and "Best Anesthesiologist-Resuscitator" medals for their significant contribution to the development of domestic healthcare and their selfless work for the benefit of the health of the people of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the conference, lectures by foreign specialists and 4 master classes were held at two scientific centers. The master classes were conducted by qualified specialists from Turkey and Russia, with more than 100 young specialists from Almaty and the regions taking part.

The conference was organized by the Republican Public Association "Federation of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators" and the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, with support from the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the event, a specialized exhibition of medical equipment and medications used in anesthesiology and intensive care was held.
