Master Class on Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Held at NCPPS

ADVANCES IN MEDICAL CARE FOR CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS

The problem of congenital heart defects (CHD) has gained significant medical and social importance over the past decade. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the proportion of congenital heart defects remains high (1.85%), making it the leading cause of death among infants in their first year of life, with a frequency accounting for 30% of all developmental defects. According to the President's Address to the People of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan – 2030" on priority areas of healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan, cardiac surgery services have taken on an increasingly important role in recent years, providing radical correction of heart defects, successfully addressing certain issues in treating heart rhythm and conduction disorders, and achieving higher levels of patient rehabilitation.

Heart and vascular surgeries for newborns and older children are performed annually at NCPPS. Interventional procedures using modern technologies have been introduced. Each year, the clinic's staff exchange experience with their foreign colleagues.

From October 31 to November 4, 2024, a master class was held at NCPPS with the participation of Kirill Viktorovich Gorbatikov, Chief Cardiac Surgeon of the Ural Federal District, MD, Professor, and Head of Cardiac Surgery Department No. 2 at Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Tyumen, Russian Federation).
