NCPPS Specialists Conduct Monitoring Visit to Mangystau Region

From February 3–7, 2025, as part of providing organizational and methodological assistance, a team of specialists from NCPPS JSC traveled to Mangystau Region.

The visit to the region was carried out by a group of specialists including: Marshalkina T.V., Chief Freelance Pediatric Pulmonologist of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan and physician of the Pulmonology Department; Zhumadullayev B.M., Head of Surgery Department No. 2; Bozhbanbayeva N.S., Head of the Department of Neonatology at S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU; Kaukenbayeva G.T., neonatal surgeon of the Department of Neonatology and Newborn Surgery; and Shekenova A.B., anesthesiologist-resuscitator of the Intensive Care Unit for Older Children.

To monitor the provision of medical care to the region's pediatric population, NCPPS specialists conducted rounds to identify problem areas and develop recommendations for their resolution at the Mangystau Multidisciplinary Regional Children's Hospital, the Regional Perinatal Center, the Aktau City Perinatal Center, the Zhanaozen Multidisciplinary Children's Hospital, the Beyneu Multidisciplinary Central District Hospital, the Tupkaragan Central District Hospital, the Fort-Shevchenko Central District Hospital, and the Children's Infectious Diseases Hospital.

The specialists analyzed the current infant mortality situation in the region. An assessment and analysis of medical care provided to newborns and children, including those with oncological and hematological diseases, was conducted.

In addition, the specialists provided consultative and practical assistance to children of various ages with pulmonology-related conditions (including children registered with cystic fibrosis). Consultations were held for children in all intensive care units, with recommendations on treatment approaches. Case consultations were held at the Children's Infectious Diseases Hospital and the Regional Children's Hospital, along with consultations for patients of various ages, including surgical cases, newborns and premature infants, and oncological and hematological patients.

The following were also conducted: a seminar-training session on "Cystic Fibrosis in Children: Diagnosis and Treatment of Bronchopulmonary Diseases in Children," as well as lectures on "General Information on Pediatric Oncology and Oncohematology: Early Diagnosis and Patient Pathway" and "Intrauterine Infection in Children: Jaundice in Young Children."

Some of the problem areas, as well as the "weak" and "strong" points of the regional service, were reported at a meeting on the results of the monitoring conducted by NCPPS specialists, with the participation of the leadership of the Health Department and children's and maternity healthcare organizations of the region. Recommendations were given on training specialists and addressing staffing shortages, as well as on certain organizational issues, and work plans were outlined.
