On August 15, 2025, the Cardiac Surgery Department of the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery JSC was visited by Professor Igor E. Konstantinov, MD, PhD, DSc (Melbourne, Australia) — one of the world's leading specialists in pediatric cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic surgery consultant at the Royal Children's Hospital (Melbourne), and Director of the Melbourne Centre for Cardiovascular Genomics and Regenerative Medicine.
As part of the visit, Professor Konstantinov made rounds in the department, participated in a detailed discussion of clinical cases of our patients, provided recommendations on determining further treatment strategies, and shared his unique experience in managing complex cases.
Special attention was given to the surgical correction of congenital heart defects, with an emphasis on modern techniques for reconstructive heart valve surgery in children.
In addition, the professor gave a lecture for the Center's physicians titled "Reconstructive Heart Valve Surgery in Children," presenting current scientific data, international experience, and the results of his many years of practice.
This meeting was an important event for the entire team: it not only strengthened our professional knowledge, but also outlined prospects for further cooperation with leading centers around the world.
International collaboration, exchange of experience, and joint projects are what allow us to improve the quality of care provided and introduce innovations for the benefit of our young patients.
We thank Professor Igor Konstantinov for his visit, openness, and willingness to share his invaluable experience!
