July 6 in Kazakhstan, the state holiday is celebrated - the Day of the capital. On July 18, 2008, the lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament approved a bill, according to which the Day of Astana acquired the status of a state holiday - the Day of the capital. The new state holiday is designed to symbolize the achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On July 3, 2017, in the framework of the celebration of the Capital Day in the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Children's Surgery, sports competitions were held among the employees of the center for checkers, chess and table tennis.
