From 7th to 11th of October, 2019, a master class was held at the Scientific Center for Pediatrics and Children’s Surgery with the participation of foreign specialists from Austria, Professor Milen Minkov - head of the international center for the study of histiocytosis in children, head of the clinic for neonatology, pediatrics and adolescent medicine at the city of Floridsdorf city Vienna, Professor of Vienna Medical University and Professor Markus Seidel - Head of the Department of Clinical Hematology, Oncology and Immunology University Pediatrics Clinic, Karl Franzens Medical University of Graz (Austria).
The theme of the master class: "Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of histiocytosis and primary immunodeficiency conditions in children."
Histiocytosis is a rare disease, and the clinical manifestations of histiocytosis are very diverse, which is the main difficulty in making this diagnosis. Localization of pathological foci in the organs and systems of the child is variable: the most common lesions of the skeleton, skin, posterior pituitary gland, lymph nodes, liver, spleen, bone marrow, lungs and central nervous system. The nature of histiocytosis remains controversial, but it is reliably known that one of the links in the pathogenesis is the disruption of the functioning of the immune system, as a rule of non-hereditary etiology.
Currently, more than a hundred forms of primary immunodeficiency states in children and more than 200 genetic defects leading to primary immunodeficiency states have been described, however, early diagnosis and adequate treatment of primary immunodeficiency states allows achieving a stable general condition of patients with most of these diseases.
The training of hematologists, oncologists, general practitioners and pediatricians at various levels of medical institutions is a necessity in order to ensure the diagnosis of rare diseases like histiocytosis and primary immunodeficiencies.
The master class was attended by specialists from various regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including pediatric oncologists and hematologists, general practitioners and pediatricians.
As part of the master class, foreign experts consulted 15 patients with various hematological, oncological, immunological and hereditary diseases.
