Doctors of Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Children’s Surgery: pediatric anesthesiologist-resuscitator Urstemova Kamshat Kabylbekovna and surgeon-neonatologist Kaukenbaeva Gulmira Tolepbekovna from September 21-25 held a master class on the topic "Care and intensive management of newborns in the perioperative period" at the Children's City Clinical Hospital in Shymkent.

The purpose of the master class: training neonatologists, neonatal anesthesiologists and resuscitators in modern methods of diagnosis and treatment for congenital malformations and critical conditions in newborns.

The master class was attended by doctors in the following specialties: neonatology, anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care of newborns, neonatal surgery, pediatrics.

Congenital malformations are the leading causes of perinatal mortality. According to world statistics, the incidence of congenital malformations is 5-6 cases per 1000 births, while the mortality rate is 30-40%. Congenital malformations are one of the serious problems not only of health care, but also of the state as a whole, since their treatment, as well as a high level of disability in children, require huge material costs and are one of the causes of infant mortality.

At the present stage of development of medicine, the main task is to improve the survival rates, rehabilitation and high quality of life of these patients. The outcome of each case with congenital malformations mostly depends on well-coordinated teamwork of qualified neonatologists, neonatal surgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators and nurses.

According to the master class program, the issues of preoperative preparation, anesthetic management and perioperative management of newborns with congenital malformations, diagnostics and intensive therapy of septic conditions in neonatology were considered.
