Diseases that are associated with a malfunction of the human immune system are called autoimmune, or systemic. With them, not only a specific system, but the whole organism as a whole can be affected. Until now, experts have not identified why a person's immunity begins to react negatively to its own tissues. Many of these diseases are chronic. There may be periods of remissions and exacerbations. It is very important to adequately and thoroughly begin treatment, otherwise it can lead to dysfunction of internal organs and disability.
Rheumatic diseases are a group of chronic systemic diseases with a complex autoimmune pathogenesis, characterized by a progressive course. Despite a small proportion of rheumatic diseases within the structure of childhood morbidity relative to other nosological groups, the progress of the rheumatic process can be quite rapid, which leads to persistent disability in a young patient. Timely diagnosis allows to start antirheumatic therapy at an early stage, which significantly increases the chances of a favorable outcome.
