The Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery is the center overseeing the implementation and operation of patronage care for children in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The universal patronage program for pregnant women and young children is one of the mechanisms that allows identifying all risks to the health and life of young children. At the same time, this program helps to reduce the number of manageable deaths of children and child injuries, as well as the prevention of child abuse and violence. Taking into account the variety of tools of the UPMP program, the patronage team can help realize the potential of every family and every child. At the same time, the work on the approaches of the Universal Progressive Patronage Model is not at a sufficient level in all PHC organizations in the country. The main reason for this problem is the poor coordination of this work at the level of the heads of PHC medical organizations and the low level of skills of the patronage service.

In this regard, the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, in accordance with the action plan to reduce infant and child mortality, improve the quality of primary health care for children in general, held a training seminar on basic and extended trainings "Universal progressive model of maternity care in Kazakhstan from April 15 to 26, 2024 women and children under 5 years of age in the Republic of Kazakhstan". The cycle was conducted by the Department of coordination of Integrated management of childhood diseases / Universal model of patronage visits to pregnant women and young children on the basis of NCPDH (republican trainer for UPMP, UNICEF, associate professor of the Department of Children's Diseases of KazNMU Kim N.G., doctor of the department of IVBDV/UPMP Antonova E.Yu., coach of IVBDV, doctor of the department of IVBDV /UPMP Alibayeva G.E.). The training was conducted in an interactive format with a demonstration of practical skills, visual aids, situational tasks and teamwork with the participation of cadets from all over Kazakhstan.

On the basis of polyclinics in Almaty, the cadets carried out home visits to pregnant women and children. During home visits, it was possible to make the invisible visible, it was possible to assess the risks in pregnant women (social, depression, bad habits, etc.). After home visits, debriefing was conducted with an analysis of each case, "naming" the risks and drawing up individual realistic and feasible family support plans. The discussion was attended by both the visiting staff of polyclinics and the participants of the seminar. At the end of the cycle, certificates were awarded.

During this training, organizational and methodological assistance was also provided to the patronage services of the city polyclinics No. 1, 6, 7 of the Almaty city Medical Center, which was mutually beneficial both for the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery in terms of using PHC organizations as a clinical base, and for PHC organizations themselves.

The Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery is also planning further trainings and seminars both for the heads of PHC organizations and for the staff of the nursing service themselves.
