23-24 October 2025, a scientific-practical conference titled "Modern Issues in Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery: Experience, Innovations and Achievements" was held in Almaty, together with the Young Scientists' School for doctoral students, master's students and residents, titled "Young Researcher: Challenges and Prospects for the Development of Modern Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery."

The conference, organized by the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery and the "Union of Pediatricians" Public Association with support from the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, brought together more than 100 speakers from Kazakhstan and abroad, alongside renowned scientists and experienced pediatricians and pediatric surgeons. The conference was held in hybrid format, allowing a large number of specialists from different regions to learn about new methods of diagnosing and treating children's diseases. More than 1,500 doctors attended in person and online combined.

This conference is held annually and has become a tradition for the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery. The conference addressed organizational aspects of providing medical care to children with various diseases, issues of improving medical services for children at the primary healthcare level, modern methods of diagnosing and treating childhood diseases, and featured presentations of rare and interesting clinical cases from pediatric practice. Discussions also covered current issues in pediatric surgery, new standards for diagnosing and treating rare diseases in children, rehabilitation and medical-social adaptation of children with various somatic and surgical conditions, the development and implementation of new effective technologies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal pathologies, pediatric intensive care and anesthesiology, the development of information technologies in pediatrics, and the introduction of innovative technologies in child healthcare services.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to the Young Scientists' School, in which residents, master's students, doctoral students, and young doctors just beginning their careers shared the results of their first research work. In total, young scientists presented around 50 oral and poster presentations on pediatrics and pediatric surgery. Young people are the driving force of progress and the foundation of future society. The development of science and the country as a whole depends on their energy, curiosity, and pursuit of knowledge. Today, the participation of young people in science, including in healthcare, is especially important. New medical technologies, research, and discoveries created by young scientists help save lives and improve the quality of medical care. Supporting young people's scientific initiatives is a path to a healthy and thriving future. For two days in Almaty, scientists from Kazakhstan and abroad gathered to raise pressing issues in pediatrics and pediatric surgery and to analyze their development and prospects.

Opening the conference, Magripa Yembergenova, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health Protection of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Svetlana Sultangaziyeva, Vice-Rector of S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU; and Abai Kusainov, Chairman of the Management Board of the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, addressed the conference participants, emphasizing the importance of the event and wishing the young scientists success, new discoveries, and achievements.

"The development of modern medical science and practice is impossible without the scientific potential of young scientists. That is why we hold this event every year in a row — to increase the scientific potential of young scientists and to attract young scientists to science. We believe that scientific research should be combined with practice. This year, the young scientists truly impressed us with the quality of their preparation for the conference, substantive presentations, good slideshows, excellent results, conclusions, and recommendations for practical healthcare. We are glad and proud that there is indeed a worthy younger generation — the future of our domestic medicine belongs to them!" said jury member Lyazat Manzhuova, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Scientific and Innovative Activities at NCPPS.

The research projects were evaluated by qualified specialists from the professorial teaching staff and leaders of practical medicine in the fields of pediatrics and pediatric surgery. The works presented at the conference were recognized in the categories "Best Poster Presentation," "Best Article," and "Best Oral Presentation," and were awarded special diplomas and cash prizes.

Best Oral Presentation – Dzhaparov Akhmadkul Iriskulovich, Master of Medical Sciences, doctoral student at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy JSC, Shymkent.

In the Specialty of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology:

Best Poster Presentation – Khalzhan Gaukharai Saifullakyzy, resident of NCPPS.

Best Article – Ibrasheva Aruzhan Maiyszhankyzy, Kobeisin Nurdaulet Yerbolatuly, residents of NCPPS.

Best Oral Presentation – Smailova Kamila Zhaslanovna, resident of "UMC" Corporate Fund, Astana.

The National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery is not only a medical institution but also a center for training experienced scientific personnel to implement research projects. Residents in the specialties of "Pediatrics," "Pediatric Surgery," and "Pediatric Oncohematology" train here. Today, young specialists who have completed residency at the National Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery work at medical centers and institutions across all regions of the country.
