On March 2, 2018, the Scientific Center for Pediatrics and Children's Surgery (Almaty) hosted a scientific and practical conference for doctoral students, undergraduates and residents on the topic "Actual issues of modern pediatrics and pediatric surgery."

The organizers of the event were the Public Association "Union of Pediatricians" of Kazakhstan, the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Children's Surgery, together with the departments of children's diseases of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S. Asfendiyarov.

At the conference, the best reports were presented, selected by an authoritative competitive commission. With a welcoming speech were the Rector of the Kazakh National Medical University after S.D. Asfendiyarov Nurgozhin TS, Professor of the Department of Children's Diseases № 2 Khabizhanov B.Kh. Rector of the Kazakh National Medical University Nurgozhin Т.S. thanked the organizers in particular the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery for holding a conference of young specialists, which is a platform for further growth of the professional activity of the young doctor, gaining skills and striving to engage in research activities. He gave parting words to young scientists and suggested that such a conference be an annual event.

The main report on the theme: "Development of research potential of young doctors of pediatricians in Kazakhstan" was made by the director of the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery Boranbaeva R. "The conference allowed to reveal creative scientific potential among young scientists. Today, the integration of science, education and practice is important in the training of young pediatricians. The integration of science and education makes it possible to train specialists on the basis of real scientific research and on the most modern experimental basis. The interaction of departments with medical organizations allows them to participate effectively in the formation and equipping of the training program, to participate graduates of universities in projects on the main strategic directions in the pediatric service, to be aware of the main trends in the development of the service. At the same time, students, interns, residents of the university get the opportunity to join the work of medical organizations and manifest themselves in it. One of such forms is the formation of future doctors in research skills, the development of clinical thinking, "- said the director Riza Boranbaeva.

Participants of the conference discussed the organizational aspects of providing medical care to children with various diseases, improving the quality, continuity and effectiveness of medical care for children at the level of polyclinics, modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases in children, rehabilitation, psychological and medico-social adaptation of children with various physical and surgical pathologies . Also, rare and interesting clinical cases from pediatric practice were presented. In the topical issues of pediatric surgery were examined the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases.

The moderators were: Nurgozhin TS, Majibaev KA, Khabizhanov B.Kh., Omarova KO, Isbaeva B.Zh., Dzhumabekov TA, Bozhbanbaeva NS, Tashenova G.T. . and etc.

The Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery is the head methodical, scientific-practical and advisory center for the pediatric service of the republic, including pediatric surgery. The Center is not only a medical clinic, but also a unique multidisciplinary research and educational institution for the training of highly qualified personnel. For the last 3 years, 41 residents have been issued, who are employed in the republican centers and medical organizations of the regions of Kazakhstan. Currently, 17 residents are trained in pediatrics and pediatric surgery, which are actively involved in the practical and scientific activities of the center. Our residents are currently conducting research on oncohematology, cardiac surgery, the study of autoimmune hepatitis, rare diseases, and others. The Center is the clinical base of the Kazakh National Medical University, the Kazakh Medical University of Continuing Education and the Republican Medical College.

More than a hundred young scientists from different cities of Kazakhstan took part in this conference. Among them are representatives of research organizations and leading medical universities in the country.

During the conference, 34 oral reports of young specialists were heard and 14 posters were presented.

As a result of the conference, the best scientific reports of young scientists on the nominations "Best oral report" on pediatrics and pediatric surgery, "Best article", "Best post report" were selected.

All participants received certificates for participation in the conference, and the winners were awarded with diplomas and special prizes.

The materials of the conference are published in a special issue of the scientific journal "Pediatrics zhene bala surgery" of the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery of the Ministry of Health.

Conducting such a conference gives an opportunity to attract young specialists to scientific work by discussing topical issues in the field of pediatrics and pediatric surgery.
