On October 8-9, 2018, the second meeting of experts in the field of pediatric oncology of the CIS countries was held in Almaty under the auspices of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (Eurasian region).
Holding the second meeting of experts in the field of childhood cancer in the city of Almaty is an important event in the Pediatric Hematology / Oncology Kazakhstan. The congress brought together leading experts in this field from 14 countries: oncologists / hematologists from the National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology behalf of Dmitry Rogachev. Rogacheva - Russia (Moscow), the Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology of Belarus (Minsk) - who work closely with the Center for Pediatrics and make a great contribution to the development of oncological and hematological services in Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the World Organization Health, doctors of the Research Hospital of St. Jude (USA), experts from Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan.
Recall that the first meeting of experts in the field of pediatric oncology in the CIS countries was held on April 23-25, 2018 in Moscow behalf of Dmitry Rogachev. The main goal of this event is to improve the survival rate of children with hematological and oncological diseases in the CIS countries (Eurasian region). At the solemn opening of the event, the director of the NCPDH, Riza Boranbayeva, welcomed the participants on behalf of pediatric oncologists and hematologists of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, it was noted that the joint project lays the foundation for the implementation of a global initiative that brings together all participants in the fight against childhood cancer, expanding access to high-quality medical care by creating national centers of excellence and their regional offices, as well as promoting the inclusion of measures to combat children's cancer in public health policy in an effort to ensure all sick children the maximum chance of survival.
According to the results of the meeting of experts in Almaty, further priorities in the development of pediatric oncology services in the Eurasian region were identified: the creation of child cancer registers for the CIS countries, the organization and development of palliative care for patients with cancer, fields of pediatric hematology / oncology, development of integrated standards for the treatment of oncological diseases in children.
According to the vice-president of the American Children's Cancer Hospital St. Jude Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, in Kazakhstan the children's oncology industry is systematized and is at a high level of treatment. “Today we visited the Pediatrics Center, got acquainted with its work, and visited the departments of oncology, hematology and transplantology.
All conditions are created for children at a high level. Particularly impressed with the system and quality of treatment, ”said K. Rodriguez-Galindo. During the meeting, the participants of the event on October 9 visited the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery and the Republican Clinical Sanatorium "Alatau", where they got acquainted with the activities of the two institutions. On the second day of the event, Vice-President of the American Children's Cancer Hospital St. Jude Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo conducted a lecture for the Oncology / Hematology Center of Pediatrics.
