The department was established in 1993 to provide specialized assistance to children and adolescents.
The Republican Children's Onco-Hematology Center (RCOHC) with 60 beds was established in May 1993 with the assistance of the charity organization "CARE-Germany" in cooperation with the International Foundation "Mercy and Health" at the Scientific Center of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery. The main goal of the department is to introduce standardized chemotherapy programs, improve accompanying therapy, and increase the survival rate of children with cancer in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Department of Oncology / Hematology No. 4 is deployed on 22 beds, where diagnosis and treatment of children with oncological and hematological pathology from 0-18 years is carried out, and is also a clinical and scientific base for the training and retraining of pediatric oncologists / hematologists.
The main principles of the department are the highest professionalism, mercy and respect for the personality and rights of the patient.
The doctors of the department have been trained in leading foreign clinics.
In all nosological forms of malignant neoplasms of childhood, antitumor, high-dose chemotherapy with high efficiency is carried out. Special attention is paid to accompanying therapy in order to improve the tolerability of chemotherapy, as well as prevention of early and long-term complications of chemotherapy, which ultimately leads to an improvement in the quality of life of patients.
Children with one parent are accommodated mainly in 1-2-bed comfortable wards, with a TV, shower and bathroom.
Simultaneously with the treatment, children have the opportunity to engage in creativity under the guidance of a teacher in a specially equipped playroom. Educational and entertainment programs are organized. Through the efforts of a clinical psychologist and volunteers, psychological support is provided to patients and their relatives.
