The Department of Pulmonology has been functioning since 1962 and is the only pulmonology department in the Republic of Kazakhstan providing specialized medical care to children from all regions of Kazakhstan. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, malformations of the lungs and bronchi, complicated by the infectious and inflammatory process, pulmonary lesions in patients with immunodeficiency conditions, genetically determined lung diseases, severe forms of pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchial asthma are hospitalized.
The department is deployed for 20 beds.
The structure of the department includes:
- 7 Meltzer boxes for hospitalization of patients, one of which is intended for patients with MV with chronic pseudomonas infection;
- 3 boxes (treatment room, inhaler, room of the hostess's sister).
A separate boxed ward with a room for kinesitherapy for patients with cystic fibrosis (MV) with chronic pseudomonas infection has been organized.
Children aged from 28 days of life to 18 years are hospitalized in the department.
Children with the following nosologies are hospitalized:
- Congenital pulmonary malformations
- Cystic fibrosis
- Lingering pneumonia, including pneumonias due to atypical pathogens (mycoplasma, chlamydia, viruses).
- Bronchial asthma
- Bronchiectatic disease
- Chronic obliterating bronchiolitis
- Interstitial lung diseases
In addition to therapeutic and diagnostic tasks with the specialists of the pulmonology department, training of specialists in the field of pediatric pulmonology is carried out, cycles of improvement of pediatricians and general practitioners are held. Master classes "Topical issues of pediatric pulmonology" are regularly held.
Employees of the department are members of the expert committee on MIS, established during the pandemic of coronavirus infection, which conducts online consultations with children from all regions of Kazakhstan.
Up to 300 telemedicine consultations with the regions of Kazakhstan are conducted annually by the pulmonologists of the center.
