The Department of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation was organized in 2012 for 6 beds in order to provide specialized care to children and adolescents.
All kinds of transplants are performed in the department:
- Autologous transplants
- Allogeneic transplants
- Haploidentical transplants that use hematopoietic stem cells from a partially compatible related donor (parents).
The main goal of the department is to perform hematopoietic stem cell transplants in children, as well as to ensure the development of topical, closely related problems of clinical medicine: hematology, oncology, clinical transfusiology, chemotherapy of oncohematological diseases.
The main objectives of the department of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the hematology-oncology center of the SCP&CS are:
- Autologous, allogeneic/haplo transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow or peripheral blood as indicated.
- Prevention and timely treatment of complications arising in the process of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with cancer and hematologic diseases.
- Implementation of a set of measures to restore and maintain impaired functions of vital organs resulting from the disease and chemotherapy of patients being treated in the HSCT department with cancer and hematologic diseases.
- Providing clinical, pedagogical and scientific processes in various aspects of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, oncohematology, transplantology, clinical transfusiology, with the involvement of clinical and scientific structures of SCP&CS
- and other institutions in the profile of work, including - foreign;
- Introduction of modern methods, diagnostic tools and effective therapy programs for patients with oncological and hematological diseases into the practice of the Department of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in children under 18 years of age.
The department is staffed by highly qualified doctors, nurses, and experienced junior medical staff with a long employment record.

Sarsekbayev Yergali Semgaliuly - Head of HSCT department, doctor of the first category in oncology/hematology (pediatric). Length of service at the SCP&CS – 9 years (since 2012).
